Frequently Asked Questions
As you prepare for your upcoming visit to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the event or are onsite during the event the tournament webpage will be updated consistently. In addition, we will send communications through e-mail and @socalcupvolleyball on Instagram.
Please be assured that the safety and well-being of everyone remains a top priority for Our Team and the City of Los Angeles.
Is the Tournament Happening?
- Yes, the tournament is proceeding as planned from June 13 - 15th at the LA Convention Center.
- Doors will open at the convention center at 6am. Please do not congregate at the convention center, please arrive when the doors open.
Is the Tournament Schedule Changing?
- Yes, the tournament schedule will be modified. The AM Wave will begin at 7am and the PM Wave will begin at 1pm.
- Specific scheduling information will be provided mid-day Thursday, June 12th through SportWrench.
Is the Tournament Format Changing?
- Yes, SoCal Cup has modified the format to allow an earlier end to the day.
- All pool play matches on Friday 6/13 and Saturday 6/14 will be played 2 sets to 25. No third sets will be played.
- Warm ups will change to a 1-3-3 format, one minute shared court, 3 minutes per team.
- If there is a tie in set percentage in pool play (2- way or 3-way), ties will be broken by overall point ratio in the entire pool. For example, the tied teams will be ranked by their point ratio in the entire pool and advanced based off of that ranking.
What About The Citywide Curfew?
- The impacted area can be seen on the map, HERE. The LA Convention Center is within the radius, although on the perimeter.
- The curfew is from 8pm - 6am. What does this mean?
- The city is aware of the start time of the event and understands that you may be walking to the convention center between 530a - 6a, if asked by law enforcement, make sure to let them know you are headed to the SoCal Cup event at the LA convention center.
- You ARE allowed inside the convention center, hotels, restaurants, residences, etc.
- You ARE allowed to be within a vehicle moving to/from the convention center to get to your destination.
- You ARE NOT allowed in open public areas - parks, streets, alleys, etc. during the curfew.
- We ask you to comply with the curfew. We and the LAPD understand there may be instances that you may be moving through public areas. If you are in an open area getting to your designation and are stopped, please show your SoCal Cup identification. All law enforcement have been alerted to SCC identification and if shown will allow you to move through to your destination only.

What if I Am Commuting In?
- Parking at the LA Convention Center remains open and allows direct access into the convention center.
- We do not anticipate impact on commuters, but if stopped, please show your SoCal Cup identification to be allowed to move through.
Is There a Shuttle Service Available?
- We have arranged a Shuttle Service to transport you from the event to the local hotels within the DTLA impacted area. The following are the hotels which drop-offs will be made available:

Additional Information:
The shuttle will run every 30 minutes during the listed times below. Head to the loading dock and the shuttle will be there to assist you.
- Friday 6/13: 11:00AM - 8:00PM
- Saturday 6/14: 11:00AM - 8:00PM
- Sunday 6/15: 10:00AM - 4:00PM
Have Additional Safety Measures Been Put in Place?
- SoCal Cup along with the LA Convention Center have put additional security measures in place; including the following:
- LACC has increased security onsite at the convention center and added additional perimeter security.
- SCC has also increased on-site security.
- There is increased presence of law enforcement in and around downtown Los Angeles.
- Security perimeters surrounding the convention center will be in-place to create a large space between the street and access points.
Is There a Public Announcement System Within the Convention Center?
- Yes, we have a PA System throughout the facility to make announcements if needed.
Will There Be Food Options For The Morning Wave & Evening?
- We’ve made arrangements to have food/dining open for the morning beginning at 6:30 am and available for grab and go up to 6:45/7pm.
Will Restaurants Be Open at Night in DTLA?
- We anticipate restaurants closing early, so please plan accordingly.
