CURFEW
LA Live/LACC is located at the south edge of the 1-square mile curfew area. LACC has worked closely with the City of Los Angeles to ensure that law enforcement agencies in the area are aware that SCC is happening at LACC and event attendees will be present in the downtown area. While the curfew will overlap slightly at the start of SCC, we have developed best practices to help navigate your travel to and from the LACC.
- You will see communication forthcoming on SCC identification to ensure everyone has identification as a participant/attendee/partner.
- We are also working on a shuttle from LACC to local hotels for Friday and Saturday evenings, more details to follow.
- Any scheduling changes will be provided as we work through logistics tied to the tournament. There will be a delay in the release of the tournament schedule. Please be patient as we work to get this posted.
SAFETY MEASURES
SoCal Cup along with the LA Convention Center have put additional security measures in place; including the following:
- LACC has increased security onsite at the convention center and adding perimeter security. - SCC has also increased on-site security.
- There will be (4) dedicated LAPD on-site to the event for the entirety of the event.
- Security perimeters surrounding the convention center will be in-place to create a large space between the street and access points.
We spoke with LAPD this morning and they have extra resources set aside for our event this weekend. There was a big awards show downtown last night and it operated as normal and had no issues. They informed us that the protests are contained closer to the 101 freeway and does not effect the areas around Crypto and LACC. LACC reassured us that the statement from yesterday (down below) still holds true. We have also increased security on our end at the LACC.
Here is the current statement from the Los Angeles Convention Center: At this time, while there have been isolated incidents, the city remains open for business and the vast majority of the region is unaffected. Local law enforcement agencies are actively monitoring the situation and have increased their presence in areas of concern to ensure public safety. While we do not believe your group will be directly impacted, we are closely monitoring the situation and will provide any relevant updates in real-time. LACC is operating as usual, and our staff is here and ready to execute this event successfully. We look forward to welcoming The SoCal Cup Volleyball Tournament and providing a positive and safe experience.
